Impact Sync’s First Team Gathering

From ideation to reality, Impact Sync, officially set the ball rolling with its maiden project on enhancing safety on our roads. The campaign dubbed the “Ghana Arrive Safely” is sponsored by D-Prize and the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders with our implementation partner being TroTro Diaries (https://www.trotrodiaries.com

To set the ball rolling, the inaugural meeting focused on outlining strategies for the campaign. The team discussed various approaches to encourage passengers to speak up. Activities for this campaign include awareness campaigns, developing educational and sensitization materials, and collaborations with public transport authorities, insurance companies, oil marketing companies and passengers.

To make things even more exciting, this campaign is set to use the design thinking approach. This allows passengers to define and frame the problem whilst exploring a wide range of potential practical solutions. Ultimately, evocative messages from such brainstorming sessions will be developed on stickers and placed in trotros to encourage passengers to speak up.

Our journey to safer roads is just beginning and we are excited for what lies ahead. Allow us

to introduce you to the team with Akosua Afriyie Osei-Appaw as the Team Lead, Yaw Tweneboah Kodua Odoom as the Technical Lead and Kweku Nnipa Odoom as the Administrative Officer.

Join us to help spread the word about the importance of speaking up against reckless driving in public transport. Together, we can make a difference.

Driver Union Endorsement: A Big Step Forward for Passenger Safety

Impact Sync is excited to share a significant development in our advocacy project. To kick start the project, our team made a community entry where they met with the Welfare Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) Odawna branch. This was to formally inform them of the project and to establish a partnership with them as a key stakeholder for the project which seeks to promote safer driving practices on public transport and empower passengers to speak up against reckless driving.

During the meeting with the driver union, Yaw Tweneboah Kodua Odoom, co-founder of Impact Sync highlighted the important role drivers play in road safety and the need to be proactive in such a campaign. Mr Omari, Welfare Chairman for the Odawna branch of

GPRTU, welcomed the idea together with his team.

The team from Impact Sync also used the opportunity to carry out a recce at some of the bus terminals in order to have an initial insight into how the initiative will be implemented.

The Ghana Arrive Safely campaign is an initiative of Impact Sync with support from D-Prize and the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders with TroTro Diaries as an implementing partner. The campaign addresses road safety by placing stickers in trotros to encourage passengers to speak up against reckless driving.

Impact Sync Technical Lead Mr. Yaw Tweneboah Kodua Odoom Meets with National Road Safety Authority (NRSA)

In a significant stride towards enhancing road safety measures, Mr. Yaw Tweneboah Kodua Odoom, the Technical Lead of Impact Sync, convened with representatives from the National Road Safety Authority. The primary agenda of this pivotal meeting was to explore a potential partnership and to seek approval for the Kasa Campaign, an innovative initiative aimed at improving road safety awareness and practices.

During the discussions, both parties delved into the strategic activity plans for the campaign. The Kasa Campaign, central to the conversation, is poised to address critical road safety challenges through community engagement, educational programs, and the implementation of a sticker initiative encouraging passengers to speak up against reckless driving. This collaboration is expected to bring a robust and cohesive approach to mitigating road accidents and promoting safer driving habits in Accra during the pilot and scaled up to the entire country in 5 years.

The partnership between Impact Sync and the National Road Safety Authority marks a proactive step towards fostering a culture of safety and responsibility on the roads. With the combined efforts and resources of both organizations, the upcoming year promises a series of impactful activities and initiatives designed to significantly reduce road traffic incidents and enhance the overall safety of road users.
